“My tongue will tell the anger of my heart,
Or else my heart concealing it will break,
And rather than it shall, I will be free
Even to the uttermost, as I please, in words.”
The Taming of the Shrew (4.3)
Shrew is a one woman adaptation of The Taming of the Shrew that explores the complicated process of forming a female identity in today’s world. Being a woman, from the moment you are born the forces around you are on a mission to tame you, to teach you your place. This was true in Shakespeare’s time and unfortunately is still true today. In this adaptation a woman embodies these forces and she takes us, using Kate’s story, through the journey every woman goes through in her life.
